The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Army will intensify efforts to stem the tide of terrorist attacks in Niger State and other parts of the country.
Shaibu gave the assurance on Tuesday in Minna while speaking at the opening of the 2026 Doctrine and Training Conference at the Nigerian Army Doctrine and Training Command (TRADOC).
He said the Army was committed to fully implementing directives of President Bola Tinubu aimed at restoring security nationwide.
“We will massively do more deployments across the country towards achieving our goal of making Nigeria safer for all law-abiding citizens,” the army chief said.
According to him, the president has directed the military to ensure that the recent waves of attacks in Niger and other affected areas are curtailed, adding that all perpetrators would be apprehended and brought to justice.
Shaibu noted that the Nigerian Army is leveraging technology to enhance its operational capabilities and adapt to evolving security challenges.
He said the annual conference was organised to review doctrinal and training activities and develop strategies to strengthen operations in line with emerging threats.
Earlier, the Commander of TRADOC, Maj.-Gen. Peter Malla, said the conference marked the commencement of the Army’s 2026 training year and provided a platform for intellectual engagement on doctrine and training priorities.
