President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Olugbemisola Odusote as the first female Director-General of the Nigerian Law School (NLS).
The appointment, which takes effect from January 10, will run for a four-year tenure, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
Odusote, who currently serves as the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Law School, will succeed Isa Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9.
She becomes the first woman to head the Nigerian Law School since its establishment in 1962.
Odusote holds an LL.B degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She also earned an LL.M from the same institution, specialising in corporate and commercial law, and later obtained a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
She joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 and has served in several capacities, including Head of Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus.
As Director-General, Odusote will oversee academic, administrative, and strategic management across all campuses and serve as the principal liaison with the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
